This dataset provides information about 2389 preserved specimens from 723 species and subspecies and 80 families of vascular plants. The specimens were collected in the undergraduate thesis project of Vicente (1983), which assessed the vascular plants of Pamplona Basin (Navarra, northern Spain).
Specimens were collected in Pamplona Basin (Navarra, northern Spain). The site studied covers an area of over 587 km2.

Municipalities: Ansoáin, Aranguren, Barañáin, Belascoáin, Beriáin, Berrioplano, Berriozar, Bidaurreta, Burlada, Ciriza, Cizur, Echarri, Egüés, Etxauri, Galar, Goñi, Huarte, Iza, Juslapeña, Noáin - Valle de Elorz, Ollo, Olza, Orcoyen, Pamplona, Tiebas-Muruarte de Reta, Villava – Atarrabia, Zabalza and Zizur Mayor/Zizur Nagusia.
Plant collection. Plant vouchers were selected and collected in the field.Identification to species or subspecies level. Identification was performed between 1980 and 1983 by D. Vicente and J.C. Báscones using Flora europaea (Tutin et al. 1964-1980).Plant conservation. Specimens were dried and pressed for conservation using standard protocols. Vouchers were deposited in the herbarium of the University of Navarra.Numbering and digitization of vouchers. From 2012 to date, each specimen was labelled, with a unique collection number, and digitized, using HERBAR software (v3.7.1 Pando et al. 1994-2010).Revision of species identification. Original identification of some herbarium specimens was revised. Between September 2013 and January 2018, the identification of 140 specimens was corrected, and was refined in 56, either by providing the specific or the subspecific epithet.Nomenclature was updated using Flora iberica (Castroviejo 1986-2015).Names of municipalities, localities and place names were standardized according to Toponimia Oficial de Navarra http://toponimianavarra.tracasa.es/).Georeferencing. Localities were georeferenced using geographic or UTM or coordinates. Datum and uncertainty were also assigned.Internet exportation. Data were exported from the HERBAR database under a Darwin Core format (Wieczorek et al. 2012).Data checking and validation. Coordinates, characters and format of dates were checked for possible mistakes using Darwin test software (v3.3, Ortega-Maqueda & Pando 2008). This software allowed validating data in the Darwin Core format.Metadata were documented and the dataset was published in the GBIF data portal using the Integrated Publishing Toolkit (IPT v2.3.5) of GBIF.es http://ipt.gbif.es/).
